Most people do not realize that the remote and, more importantly, the programming of the remote is an essential component in your home audio/video system. Disagree? What do you ALWAYS use no matter what you want to do with your system: the remote. A solid control system is the differences between a system that is used all the time and a system that is too hard to understand and just gathers dust. At JBM Audio we do not like to see systems gather dust; we want them to be enjoyed by everyone in the family.
JBM Audio uses URC control systems on almost every one of our installations. This allows us to simplify the interface that the customer uses every day. We like to call our remotes "Baby Sitter Proof." What does that mean? It means that the baby sitter could pick up the remote and use the system with next no instruction.
For example, let's say you want to watch a DVD. Normally you will have to power on the TV, DVD, and the receiver. Select the proper video input on the TV. Select the proper audio input on the receiver. And then finally hit play......You had to use 3 remotes to do this...TV, DVD, and receiver. That was a lot to do just watch a DVD. And don't forget that you have to remember what remote goes with what, which inputs need to be selected for each device, blah blah blah. No fun and usually only one person in the house is able to do it.
All JBM Audio remotes are event based. This means if you want to watch something, you hit the watch button which will bring the entire list of options that can be watched on the system. You press the DVD button and that's it. The remote does everything. Powers everything on, selects the proper inputs, and bam, you are ready to watch your DVD.
Remotes can do so much more than just control your devices. You can surf the web, check email, control the lights, control your entire music collection, see how much power your house has used this month, etc. You team a URC remote with a HAI Automation system and now you have complete control of your entire house in the palm of your hands. Cool stuff.
