JBM Audio Tips and Tricks
When shopping for a new TV you will hear lot's of buzz words. 120 hz, 1080p, burn in, refresh rate, resolution, contrast ratio, blah blah blah. Here are JBM Audio's tips for shopping for a TV.
First off, if the TV is smaller than 50 inches save your self some money and get a 720p set. Simply tell the salesman that the human eye can not tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on smaller sets.
Second, burn in is a thing of the past for normal use. Plasmas still offer the best picture, best black level, best performance. Go plasma and you won't be disappointed
So when would I buy a LCD you ask. Well, good question. If you have a room with a lot of windows and there is a lot of reflection, you might want to go the LCD route. Plasmas have a glass front so there will be some reflection. Most LCD's do not, so the reflection is less.
Lastly, when you get that new set home take it out of Vivid/Dynamic picture mode. That is the setting in which most tvs are shipped. You want to find Cinema/THX/Movie mode. Put that bad boy in that picture mode and enjoy your new set!
Of course, even if you don't buy your set through us, give us a call and have it calibrated to get absolute best picture you can get with your tv. ISF calibrated sets use less power and last longer than non calibrated sets.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
